Jummy Java, a high-quality and independent premium gourmet coffee shop, recently announced their participation in and sponsorship for the Reach Out and Read program. The national early literacy nonprofit organization promotes and encourages early reading for children. With every purchase of coffee from the Jummy Java website store, one dollar will be contributed to the Reach Out and Read program.

Reach Out and Read consists of medical provider organizations that promote school readiness in pediatric exam rooms throughout the nation. The promotion for early literacy focuses on integrating parental advice and the importance of using children's books and reading aloud to children during well-child visits. Medical providers believe that reading skills promoted in children should begin in infancy, equipping parents not only with the knowledge and tools to prepare their children for school, but to promote bonding, education, and communication between children and parents.

Jummy Java is not just about providing high quality gourmet coffee to consumers, but in promoting community involvement and services for children, not only in Virginia, but throughout the country,

“Jummy Java is not just about providing high quality gourmet coffee to consumers, but in promoting community involvement and services for children, not only in Virginia, but throughout the country," states Demirkan. "We're proud to donate one dollar for every bag of coffee purchased to the Reach Out and Read program.
